Our vision is to see the redemption and fulfillment of God’s purposes for the Greater Williamsburg region, resulting in the spiritual, social, and economic flourishing of all our citizens.
The mission of Greater Williamsburg Movement is to foster unity the Christian community, mobilize the Church to address key needs in our community, and convey God’s love and transforming power in a Gospel-centered movement.

EXPERIENCE GREATER WILLIAMSBURG MOVEMENT
Greater Williamsburg Movement seeks to bring together the Christian churches in our community with marketplace leaders and non-profit organizations in a unified effort in achieving our vision for a transformed flourishing community.
JOIN US IN BIBLICAL OBEDIENCE...
Seeking the unity of the body that “…all of them may be one, Father, just as you are in me and I am in you.” (John 17:21) believing that Jesus “has committed to us the message of reconciliation.” (2 Corinthians 5:18).
Serving those in need in our community in response to Jesus’ teaching that “...whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.” (Matthew 25:40)
Building the Kingdom in obedience to Jesus’ command to “go and make disciples of all nations…” (Matthew 28:19)

BRUTON HEIGHTS SCHOOL DAY
One Segregated School's Story
From 1940-1966, this school was the pride of the African American Community seeking a quality education for their youth. This event memorialized the lasting impact this school had while also beginning a path toward unity and racial healing in or community during the 400th anniversary of the transatlantic slave trade in our nation.
GREATER WILLIAMSBURG MOVEMENT DAY
November 2019
A New Begining
Our first community wide Movement Day began with a morning session that included prayer and worship, a performance by a community choir, and a stirring message by Bishop Claude Alexander. Bishop Alexander is a leader of the Charlotte NC, national, and international Movements.
This was followed by a Leaders' Breakout Session to join with GWM and to provide input and guidance as we begin this long-term effort together.

In response to Movement Day in December, we gathered again to pray for the flourishing of our community and for the Lord's blessing GWM's efforts to bring unity of the Christian community and to serve "the least of these".

JAMESTOWN ISLAND DAY OF REMEMBRANCE
September 2019
Where It All Began
For the first time in history, the African American community was officially welcomed back to the exact location where the first slaves arrived at Jamestown Island 400 years earlier. The multiethnic, racially mixed crowd was educated and reminded of a difficult history that convicts us to seek a future of healing and reconciliation.
Making A Difference
Greater Williamsburg Movement is in the business of changing and shaping our community and the lives of all who live here. This is accomplished through the partnerships we facilitate between the churches, business leaders, community leaders, and non-profits. We know that working together we can accomplish much more than any of the partners could ever do alone.

WINTER GATHERING, FEB 2020
How Shall We Serve?
Over seventy participants came together at Little Zion Baptist Church in the Grove neighborhood to officially begin the plan of action for best serving our community. After a time of prayer and worship the leadership of our school system and seven non-profits reported on the most serious needs of the youth in our community and current efforts to address those needs.
The morning concluded with three breakout sessions on meeting the needs of youth, further engagement of the churches in our community, and racial healing and reconciliation.
